Occasionally excess adhesive can ooze out from under the label stock, especially if the roll is wrapped tightly.   This can prevent the labels from falling off the back of the roll, creating a slack loop that is essential for proper feeding on the LX Series. It tends to happen more frequently toward the end of a roll of label stock.

There are two ways you can make the sticky labels work for you.

  1. Unroll the labels onto another core. Rerolling labels is easy if you have another empty roll to roll onto.  This will loosen the roll and break the adhesive bond on the inside wraps which is enough to prevent sticking.  Here is a video on the process. It will go very fast once you have the procedure down.  Do this before loading each roll to prevent it completely;   otherwise, the adhesive may stick again if you do them all at once and wait days or weeks before using them.
  2. Loosen the labels on the same core.  See this video for instructions.
  3. A quick and crude solution is to add a bar above the label roll to force the labels off the roll earlier. This will prevent the rewrap and under wrap that causes jams and stalls.  What is pictured below is a wrapping paper core.  It could also be a broom handle. Support it outside the printer with a stand of some kind and then rest the other side on the cover.  You will have to leave the cover open to print this way.
