Labels are printing horizontally offset (left to right) on an LX Series printer. The image alignment is printing too far to the left or right. There is white space on the right or left side of my label.

If your labels are printing consistently offset in one direction or if the offset gradually changes from one label to the next, this article applies to you.  For sudden changes in the horizontal offset, follow this article.

1. Label Loaded incorrectly. The number one cause of this issue is incorrectly loaded label stock.  See this article for tips on label stock loading.

2. Print File Setup (Margins and Page Size)  Make sure all margins are set to zero! Make sure your page size and template size match your label stock. Often, the page size is not large enough for the label.  If this is the case, you may see white space on the right (printer's left) side of the label and no image overlap on the opposite side.  This indicates that the page size needs to be increased.  Increase the page size through the printer preferences enough to cover the label.

For PC using Bartender, follow this
label setup guide.

For Mac using Swift Publisher follow this label setup guide.

3. Left Margin Offset. White space on either the right or left side means you need to adjust the horizontal offset in Print Hub (PC) or the Config Utility (Mac).

4. Edge Scan (PC Only).  Every few labels, the printer will scan your media's edge to find the correct left margin starting position.  You can increase this scan frequency or turn it off completely if it is not detecting the edge accurately.  This can happen on circular labels more easily.  Go to Print Hub on PC only to adjust this setting.  Find the Print Alignment Tab.  Click More Settings.

5.  Overbleed.  To fix minor inconsistencies in the left margin white space from label to label, often it is beneficial to overbleed the label.  Essentially, you print slightly larger than the actual label to compensate for small changes in the margin.  Follow this article: How do I overbleed the printed image so I can ensure the image covers the entire label? (LX Series Printers)

6. Clean the Encoder Strip. Over time, ink overspray can build up on the encoder strip, which the print head uses to determine its left-to-right position. If there is ink at the label start point, it can cause variable alignment. Use the instructions in this article to clean the encoder strip.
