Left margin offset randomly moves by 10mm or more. Next label moves back to previous position. (LX500-LX600-LX610-LX910)
The printer scans the left edge of the label stock to determine where to start printing. If you add or subtract value from the left margin offset setting, the result of the scan determines the start position. Values you enter in the left margin offset are added to the start position. You can check the following items:
1. Clean the encoder strip. The encoder strip may have ink overspray built up which may cause the printer to get a poor reading on where to start printing. See this
article.
2. Adjust left edge sensing (edge scan). Open PrintHub. Go to the Print Alignment tab. Choose More Settings. Uncheck Scan Edges. The skip count tells the printer how often (how many labels) to scan for the left edge.
On Mac, go to the alignment tab (3rd tab) and toggle the scan edges check box. You may need to update your driver to the latest version before this setting is visible.
Note: Preprinted or highly reflective label stock (silver or gold polyester) can affect the ability of the sensor to scan properly. For this label stock, it is recommended that you uncheck Scan Edges. The label stock has a natural tendency to track/move/wander from side to side slightly in the printer. Scanning for the left edge is meant to account for this. However, if the stock is 4" or wider this movement is minimal, and turning off Scan Edges is advisable.
