PL400 Upper Pouch Sensor is not starting when a pouch is inserted.
The upper pouch sensor is located under the right side pouch guide. See the picture below. As soon as the pouch is detected, the pouch rollers will start to turn. These rollers help move the pouch along as the label is applied.
If nothing happens when you insert a pouch, check the following:
1. Blow out the Lower Sensor with Canned Air. If the lower sensor is not working or stuck, the upper sensor will not trigger the rollers. Use canned air to blow out dust or debris from the lower pouch sensor, which may be obstructing it. See #3 in
this article for a good picture of the Pouch Sensor.
2. Lower Pouch Sensor Short. In some units, the lower sensor flag may contact the sensor board leads, causing multiple issues, including upper sensor failure. See #2 in
this article.
3. Upper Pouch Sensor Failure. It is possible the sensor has failed, or the flag has broken. You may need to contact support so we can set up a factory repair. If you would like to attempt repair yourself, you will need a T8 Torx driver for the top screws visible below. You will need a T10 Torx driver for the interior screws.
