Can you view an image right side up but print it rotated 90 degrees - Landscape Mode. (BarTender)
Yes, you can easily view your image right-side up on your screen while having it print rotated 90 degrees in BarTender. This is achieved by separating the label's design view from its print orientation.
Here is how to set this up:
Step 1: Set the Print Orientation/Page setup to match how the label feeds from the Printer
Go to the File menu and click Page Setup, or if this is a new label, choose File - New.
- Choose the appropriate width and height of your label. This should match your label exactly as it comes out of the printer. This article walks through the process of setting up a label.
- When complete, you should see on screen exactly how the label will print. If you have other design elements, etc., that would be difficult to add/adjust while the image is rotated, move on to step 2 to rotate the view before you add those design elements.
Step 2: Correct the On-Screen Display
After changing the print orientation to Landscape, the design on your screen might look rotated (sideways).
Go to the View menu at the top.
Select Rotate View. Choose Rotate View Right or Rotate View Left (depending on how your label turned) until your template appears perfectly upright to you on the screen
- You can now edit your design on screen more easily.

- You are now ready to Print.
Note: Rotating View automatically updates the Portrait and Landscape settings in the background. However, manually changing those same settings does not yield the same results since text, barcode, and other elements do not rotate or scale properly.
