How to Change the Ethernet connection from Static to DHCP or vice versa (Eddie/LX3000).

All changes to the Ethernet setup can be made using the original installer program.

Click the button for "Software for PC" on this page:

Tip: Run the installer on a PC without the printer driver installed or remove the Eddie/LX3000 driver first.

During the initial software setup, you may connect via USB or Ethernet.  Depending on what you choose, different options will appear in the setup application.  The instructions below explain how to install via Ethernet.  Before continuing, connect only the Ethernet cable to your printer.  (You cannot connect both the USB cable and Ethernet)

1. If you choose Ethernet, the installer will automatically search your network for the printer using the most common IP address range for simple networks (10.10.10.1-254 and 192.168.1.1-254).  The IP address is the unique identifier that your network will automatically assign to the Eddie/LX3000 when you connect it to your router or wall jack.

2. If no printers are found, you will be able to adjust the IP address you are searching for – IP Range to Sweep.  In this example, we are searching for 10.10.8-11.1-254.  It is searching for 1,016 IP addresses.  There are 4 digits to any IP address that can equal 0-254.  The dash in the 3rd and 4th digit indicates that the installer will search between 8 and 11.  This means it will search for 8, 9, 10, or 11.  In the 4th digit, the installer will search for 1 through 254. To search a static IP, simply type in the IP of the printer.

3. This printer was found on 10.10.11.46.  Once it is found, click Install to install the printer driver.  You can verify the printer found is the one you expect by checking the serial number displayed.  If the printer is not found, make sure you see lights Green and Amber lights on the ethernet port on the back of the printer.  If no lights are present, you may have a defective cable or a defective port on your printer or router/wall jack.

If you do not see the option to Install, this may be due to the printer being previously installed with another network port.
To fix this, close the Primera Installer, then remove the printer from your printers folder using the instructions in this article.
In addition, go to the "Print Server Properties" dialog mentioned in Step 4, of the article, go to the "Ports" tab, then find and delete any IP addresses that the printer was previously installed on.
Start the installer again and proceed as before, you will now see the "Install" button when you get to the screen above.

4. Choose the new connection method you would like to install.  It will only take a few moments to install the driver.
