What are the Computer-Operating System requirements for Primera Products?

PC - Specifications/Requirements

Ensure the PC specs meet or exceed the following specifications.

  1. Windows 8 / 10 / 11 Compatible (32bit/64bit)
  2. Intel or AMD Processor (ARM Snapdragon processors are not supported - see below)
  3. 8 GB of RAM (If using BarTender, 16GB recommended)
  4. 10 GB of free hard drive space (If using BarTender 100 GB free space is recommended - see this article to clear space)
  5. A desktop computer is preferable*
*Laptops should work fine but they tend to have less RAM and processor speed, to begin with, so it is especially important that the specifications above are met. 

Even newer computers that meet these specifications could be problematic if they are full of bloatware or viruses. Sometimes it is difficult to realize that your computer is running slower than it should. Especially if you haven't ever experienced anything faster.  The best way to tell on a PC is to check Task Manager to see how much RAM and CPU speed are being used.  Anything below 50% is good.  Start closing programs and browser tabs to free up more RAM and processor speed.  If you close all the programs you can see, you might have to start stopping processes. However, many of these processes are critical to your PC, so if you are unsure of what to close, it might be time to call in an expert to clean up your PC. Or just reboot your PC, since this will automatically clear up memory and processing power.



Mac Specifications/Requirements

  1. OS 11 - MacOS 26
  2. Works with MacBook, iMac, Mac Mini, or Mac Pro 
If you are using a newer MacBook or MacMini, it may not have a standard USB port.  Instead, it will have a smaller USB-C port.  You will need a simple adapter to connect the included USB cable to your Mac.  You will need a USB-C to USB-A adapter similar to the one linked here.

Does Primera Software work with Snapdragon (ARM) processors?

Primera printer drivers will not work on any computer that has an ARM / Snapdragon processor architecture.  ARM/Snapdragon processors are often found in laptops and tablets. Drivers must be installed on a Windows computer with Intel-based x86/x64 processors or Ryzen processors (AMD64). Other chip manufacturers that follow this same architecture would also work.

We may support ARM processors in the future.  Check this article for any updates.

How to find what processor you have:


1. Press Windows key + I to open Settings, or right-click the Start button and select System.

2. In the System window, click About.

















What computers will NOT work?

  1. iOS or Android devices/phones are not compatible. (This includes iPhones, Android phones, or tablets such as iPad or Galaxy Tab)
  2. Chromebooks or anything running Chrome OS are not compatible.
