Can I apply labels to a tapered container (AP360-AP362)
Applying labels to tapered containers by angling the container idler roller at the front of the machine is possible. Containers with a
5°-or-less taper per side have a chance of applying labels square to the
container using an AP360/362 with the idler roller offset by one notch.
How well it works depends on the exact angle of the taper combined with
the diameter of the container. These two variables are interdependent, so
any container in question would have to be tested on an actual unit. Primera can test your container and labels before you make a purchase decision.
Notes:
- You must use labels that include a curved top, and bottom edge. It should also be shaped like a trapezoid (Wider/Narrower at the top vs. the bottom). This will allow you to apply the label straight with no wrinkles or bubbles. Provide your label converter with the specifications of your container. With this information, they will be able to create a label that fits your container.
- Adjust the Container Idler Roller per the instructions below. There are pre-established notches that can be used to angle the container idler roller so that the container is level. However, for best results, you should clamp the roller into the optimal position.
Use these instructions to adjust the container idler roller.
