How do I align Cartridges? Why is cartridge alignment necessary?

Cartridge alignment is necessary for bidirectional printing. Bidirectional printing allows the printer to print on both left and right passes over a disc. This significantly increases print speed. During alignment, the print carriage scans the series of blocks it prints to find those that line up. It then adjusts internal values accordingly. Because of unavoidable manufacturing variations from cartridge to cartridge, the alignment procedure must be performed after each new cartridge to set the proper internal values for that particular cartridge.

To Align Cartridges for LX Series printers, follow these steps.

1. Open Primera Print Hub or the Config Utility (Mac).

2. Click on the Align Button.

3. You will be prompted to install label stock that is at least 4x3.  This is to ensure the entire alignment pattern prints.

4. Alignment is complete when the printer stops printing. You will not receive a confirmation message.

Alignment will only help with bidirectional printing issues.  If you have already turned off bidi printing and seen no improvement, aligning the cartridge will not help.

IdeaNote: Cartridge Alignment is not necessary for Eddie.
