What types of slitter blades are available for my FX1200 or FX1000? What are the slitter blade specifications? (FX1200 - FX1000)
Note: This article applies to FX1200s with a serial number greater than 2120400176 which include the rectangular blade slitter module. To purchase the rectangular blade slitter module contact Primera Sales and ask for Part No. 74349
Specifications:
- Three Hole Slitting Blade
- Square Ends
- 1.69” x .87” x .008” (22mm x 43mm x 0.20mm).
Note: FX1200/1000 blade holders can use any of the common thicknesses that you may want to use (.004” to .016”).
There are many different types of blades available at a wide range of prices and life spans. Below are two examples.

Stainless steel blades will only last about one - two rolls before they dull and need to be rotated to another corner.

Solid Tungsten Carbide blades last about 13-15 rolls per corner. Tungsten Carbide is recommended as the best blade material for use with slitting paper (all Primera liners are paper). Paper typically dulls a blade faster than synthetic material.
Note: You will first see blades dull when cutting edge trim if the edge trim is not under tension. If those blades are moved to an inside cut or if the edge trim is wrapped the blades will last slightly longer.
