What is the proper way to store or transport a Primera cartridge when the printer will not be used for some time?

Warning
The best way to store an already opened cartridge is inside the printer with the printer powered on.  The printer will do periodic maintenance to ensure the cartridge nozzles do not clog.

However, if you are switching between cartridge types (Dye vs. Pigment, etc.) or you are unable to keep your printer powered on follow these procedures to store or ship an open cartridge:
  1. Use a Cartridge Garage to seal the nozzles.  You can purchase it here.
  2. Store with nozzles facing down.
  3. Store it in a zip lock bag if you don't have a garage.
  4. Store at room temperature - 61 to 87º F (16 to 32º C)
  5. Do not freeze ink cartridges.
  6. Do not tape the nozzles, as it will cause the ink to wick from one color to another.  (tape on the new cartridge nozzles is OK because those nozzles are dry and have not been used.)
  7. Eddie Ink cartridges do not need refrigeration.
If you are transporting a cartridge on an airplane, we don't anticipate any issues with bringing the printer or the ink through security. It's recommended that you remove the ink cartridge from the machine as described above. Place the cartridge inside a zip-lock bag inside your carry-on luggage. The ink should be treated like any liquid you take through security and onto an airplane.  Ink cartridges contain well below the 100 mL (3.4 oz) limit, as they hold between 50 and 60 mL of ink when full.
Idea
If you have stored the cartridge in the printer with the printer powered on, but it is still drying out, the maintenance cap may be deformed, or the maintenance cap may not be functioning properly.  Normally, as the cartridge moves over the maintenance area, it activates a lever that pushes up on the spring-loaded maintenance cap to create a seal around the nozzles.  Make sure that cap is in place, not deformed and functioning properly.
