What are the recommended storage and use conditions for CX1200 label stock and toner cartridges?
Important Note: To achieve optimal storage and use conditions it may be necessary to purchase and install an air conditioning unit if you are using the printer in an environment that is susceptible to temperature and humidity fluctuations.
Toner
Toner is Hygroscopic by nature. It will absorb any water like a sponge. This applies to water in the air in the form of humidity and water already absorbed into the media. Humid air, or media which is stored in humid conditions, will cause the toner to absorb water and not disperse properly on the ITU. This can shorten the life of the ITU, cause color variations in printing, cause inaccurate toner tracking and cause inaccurate cost quoting.
35%-40% humidity and 72 degrees Fahrenheit (22 Celsius) is the optimal conditions for both storage and use of toner. However, you may store toner between 55F and 90F (12.8C and 32C). Ideally, toner cartridges should be opened and removed from foil packaging and stored in this environment for 72 hours prior to use. Toner Cartridges should be used within two years of purchase. If toner is stored at higher or lower temperatures or is older than two years you will see noticeable quality problems in printed output.
Label Stock
Below are the storage and use recommendations for any label stock. Primera purchased label stock is stored in these conditions before being shipped.
Note: Failure to store media in these conditions may cause the stock to dry excessively and increase static electricity. This static does not allow for proper transfer from the ITU to the paper. Poor faded print quality and feeding problems will be possible. Dry air conditions are much more likely in the winter months in cold weather areas.
