Magenta ink haze is building up on the interior surfaces of my LX2000. What type of regular maintenance is required? (LX2000)

Regular use of the LX2000 causes ink to build up in the maintenance area on the right side of the printer, where the ink cartridges are docked.  This ink build-up can block the suction tube of the internal vacuum fan that is designed to pull ink overspray mist into the saturation pads.  If the ink is not pulled into the saturation pads, it can settle on all the interior surfaces of the printer.  Over time, this can cause various problems that will require the printer to be repaired.   Ink can coat the rollers that feed the paper and make them less effective.  It can also coat the encoder strip that the print carrier reads in order to print. To prevent the need for repairs, we recommend regular cleaning of this vacuum suction path and ink pad replacement.

You can purchase replacement pads and the tools necessary to clean the suction path at the link below:

Use these instructions to perform the cleaning/maintenance on your LX2000.  Additional pictures are attached below:

The tube location can be very difficult to find.  Often, it is completely covered in ink sludge.  Use a powerful flashlight and a disposable brush/spoon or similar to dig some of the ink sludge away from the tube location to reveal the opening.  See the illustrations and photos below.
