How do I manually install firmware on my Primera Printer? (Instructions apply to upgrade or downgrade)
PC
To manually install firmware, follow this procedure.
- Download the
PRFile32.exe utility
- Drag and drop the correct firmware on the utility icon.
Note: The firmware can be obtained from tech support and sent via email. Consult with tech support regarding the necessity and feasibility of the downgrade. It is not always possible to downgrade firmware on all printer models depending on Serial Numbers/Circuit board revisions.
- The utility will open to a standard print window.
- Choose the printer.
- Click OK. The printer will reset
if it is successful.
- Check the firmware on
the printer settings page in PrintHub or in the printer preferences - Details windows.
Note: If using Print Hub, you will still be prompted to update the
firmware on this printer in the future. You will need to ignore these
prompts. You may still update all other software.
Mac
- Save the desired firmware file to downgrade to in the
Downloads folder (or some other known location). Note: The firmware can be obtained from tech support and sent via email. Consult with tech support regarding the necessity and feasibility of the downgrade. It is not always possible to downgrade firmware on all printer models depending on Serial Numbers/Circuit board revisions.
- Open Terminal -- (Press 'Command' + 'SPACE') to pull up
spotlight search and then type in: Terminal
- Make sure your printer is powered on and
connected with the USB cable
- Type in the following in
Terminal:
- For Eddie: lp -d PTI_Color_Cookie Downloads/fupdate.fzp
- For LX3000 lp -d Primera_Technology_Inc__Color_Label_3000 Downloads/fupdate.fzp
- For Bravo SE-3 lp -d Primera_Technology_Inc__Disc_Publisher_se3 Downloads/fupdate.fzp
- For LX500 lp -d PTI_Color_Label_500 Downloads/fupdate.fzp
- For LX610 lp -d PTI_Color_Label_610 Downloads/fupdate.fzp
- For LX910 lp -d PTI_Color_Label_910 Downloads/fupdate.fzp
- For IP60 lp -d PTI_Color_Photo_IP60 Downloads/fupdate.fzp
Change the location or the name of the file if you saved the firmware file to somewhere other than downloads
If you have a different printer or have named it differently for some reason you can type in this command in terminal to see the list of printer
names available: lpstat
-a
