Eddie is depositing ink in the Ink Trough every time I print. Is this normal?

Yes.  This is normal.  All inkjet printers including Eddie will do periodic maintenance to ensure the nozzles are clear and ready for printing.  Normally this ink will be sprayed into a highly absorbent filter.  However, NSF requirements do not allow any long-term storage of maintenance/waste ink.  Instead, all ink is deposited in the washable/replaceable filters and in the Ink Trough.

This means that the ink trough will need weekly or even daily cleaning to prevent overfilling and leaking.  Please watch the video below for filter and ink trough cleaning instructions:
